A Must-Visit Aesop Store in Bangkok

“So worth the visit” That’s exactly what I said after traveling over an hour across Bangkok to see this Aesop store located in the Thonglor neighborhood and it truly was worth every minute. Thonglor itself is a beautiful, vibrant area full of charm, and honestly, without this store as a destination, I probably wouldn’t have explored it. That alone made the visit even more memorable.

The store entrance

Stepping inside this Aesop Thonglor store was something else. The soft evening light was setting in, and the store welcomed with a calm, almost sacred glow. The entrance, designed with deep, rich wood tones, immediately set the mood. This was no ordinary retail experience, it felt like walking into a beautifully curated, sensory-focused retreat.

What I absolutely love about Aesop stores is how they collaborate with local architects and draw inspiration from the area’s culture and materials. This particular store was designed by Sher Maker, a Thailand-based architectural studio known for their thoughtful and sustainable approach.

The highlight of this space is the dark teak wood, carefully reclaimed from the original site. It was seamlessly integrated into the store’s design. This detail not only added warmth and texture, but also filled the space with a unique, earthy scent that enhanced the experience.

The main sink area

This store is also the largest Aesop store I’ve ever visited. The layout was cleverly divided into two sections: a calm display area and a product zone with a counter sink for product testing. This elevated the entire experience inviting customers to explore Aesop’s world through touch, smell, and ritual. It’s these immersive details that form a deeper bond between the product and the customer. As always, I couldn’t leave empty-handed. I picked up a few curated travel-sized essentials, perfect companions for upcoming adventures.

One of the most unforgettable elements was the Sensorium Room, a softly lit, tranquil space that focuses fully on the scents of Aesop’s products. A hanging teapot symbolic of Thai tea rituals serves as a beautiful cultural reference, encouraging you to slow down and fully engage with the sensory environment. The design invites you in and gently closes the world outside. The play of light and shadow, the contrast between teak wood and natural sunlight from the huge windows, the craftsmanship, the intentional imperfections everything was so thoughtfully considered in this space.

Sensorium Room

This store doesn’t feel like shopping. It feels like an experience. A pause. A ritual. A journey through design, scent, and culture. If you’re visiting Bangkok and love design, architecture, and sensory experiences, Aesop Thonglor is a must-visit destination. Trust me you’ll leave inspired.
